Stir-fried Spinach is healthy and refreshing. From this dish, we learn that there is great improvement in the Chinese restaurants in the Mainland. They automatically use less oil in the cooking and it is surely not a salty dish.

Delipedia: Spinach is a rich source of calcium and iron, vitamin A, C, E and K, and other minerals. It is also extremely rich in antioxidants.

'Soup of Old Duck' should be a popular item to be ordered and is one of the signature items. It has a nice flavor of duck and Chinese ham. It has a typical taste of Shanghai soup. But we are not thirsty thereafter, we believe small amount of msg should have been added, if any. We quite like this soup and it is better to be shared by at least four diners.

'Fried Yellow Croaker' is presentable as it is served with the net. Both sides of the fish are covered by spring onion and the meat is not oily.

The meat has absorbed the flavour of spring onion. This is the first time to try yellow croaker to be cooked in such a way and in such Shaoxing style.

It is heard that there are not many Chinese restaurants serving Shaoxing cuisine in Shenzhen. We really are very interested to have a try what Shaoxing cuisine is about. Lao Shaoxing Restaurant is not too difficult to locate but is conveniently located at two minutes walk from the Station. Of course, you may take a taxi.

It is not a small restaurant, with very Chinese decoration, with high ceiling. There is also long distance among tables. Before we place the order, we notice that the dish size is normally quite large. Apart from the signature Soup of Old Duck, we can only order fish and vegetable.

The soup is in fact a must to order. It is rich in the flavor of duck and Chinese ham, it should have been boiled for several hours. The fish is fully covered by spring onion before it is fried in old. But it is not too oily when it is served to us. The presentation is impressive and quite appetizing. In view of diners like us, who always eat seafood and river seafood, this Yellow Croaker is of freshest freshness. This has to be improved, if possible. We in fact do not mind if it is charged 30% higher.

It is a good experience to Shaoxing cuisine in Shenzhen. There should be quite a lot of other dishes to be tried. But we really do not know when we have this chance again. We believe if we have more to dine together, the ordered dishes and the overall rating should be higher.
