As a start of his full time racing career in Europe with Lotus, Emerson Fittipaldi started to race in the European F2 Championship of 1970 with a Lotus 69, under his Team Bardahl's banner.

Emerson Fittipaldi re-unified with his brother Wilson (a.k.a. Wilsinho) in the European F2 Championship of 1971. In the beginning both of them drove Lotus 69s, but Wilsinho switched to March 712 in the mid-season. Here are some pictures of them in the South American invitation races:

In 1972 Emmo left Team Bardahl and driving for some smaller teams in the European F2 Championship, as a guest driver. The evolution of Lotus 69 (see pic below) had predicted the design of Lotus 74 in 1973.
