2009 started off well with many dogs finding their new loving families. Two of the best adoptions so far this year are Magnus, our beautiful German Pointer and lovely, gentle big Winston.

Magnus is doing well with his new family, and goes on lots of walks everyday. He waited a long time (much longer than we all thought) for his new home so we are very happy about this. His new family tell me that he is eating lots of nice food and getting lots of love from the children. Wonderful!
  
Winston has also gone to his new home in Sai Kung. This is really fantastic news!  We are all so happy for him, particularly his fan club (although they shed a few tears too).  He is doing well, and has another girl dog for a friend. It is fabulous when a dog like Winston gets a home. It's not easy to home large dogs in Hong Kong so thank you so much to his new family for giving him a loving home.

Princess, the German SHepherd girl who was found in a terrible state on a hillside, has also been adopted.  She is doing very well and is now a very happy healthy dog. Thanks to the foster home who looked after her up until her adoption, she did not have to spend too long in kennels. 

Bonnie, our older GR also went to her new home. She was at kennels for several months so it's great news that she has her own home now. 
  
At the first Whiskers 'n' Paws homing event of 2009, 5 pups were homed. Tee second Homing Day at Whiskers'n' Paws was also a success with 4 puppies going to their new home. Hooray! Some of you will remember the 5 happy gorgeous puppies found on a slope near our kennels. They have all now been adopted or are on trial adoptions. This is great news.  What a lovely litter they are! Oona gave birth to some more gorgeous pups. All but one have now been adopted.

Chimney, a black Sharpei mix girl from Sally's house has also been lucky enough to find her new family. Another cute pup, Pixie from Sally's has gone to live in Discovery Bay. Very pretty girl pup, Winter who was being fed by fishermen was also adopted.  Her siblings are still looking for homes.
  
2009 has brought many small dogs their new loving families. Gabriel, a very pretty 1 year old Peke went to his new home quickly. Chris the Schnauzer went to join Yoyo in his home, and is doing very well. Roly, the Lhasa Apso who arrived at kennel as a very scared boy has also been adopted, and is much loved by his new family.
  
Other small dogs that have gone to their new homes are the two adorable Shih Tzus, Gunner and Nico.  Very pretty Joss the Corgi girl was also quickly homed, and has gone to live with her new family on Cheung Chau.
  
Blinky, the pug and Dido, the terrier girl were also quickly adopted after arriving at the kennels. Henry, the mini Pincher has also gone to his new home. Lovely little Semolina has also found her new family. Affectionate, happy Aero (Yorkie) was also adopted. Scout (Westie) and Grace (Terrier) have left to start their new lives. These dogs (and a few others still at kennels) are from a shelter in the New Territories.

Sparky the pom is on a trial adoption. After some initial problems, I hear that he is now settling in well, and that they love him dearly. Callum the Beagle, Fergus the Schnauzer, and Chewy the Mini Yorkshire Terrier have also left HKDR to start their new lives.

Rocket the Shih Tzu has also been adopted.  Eccles, the Cocker Spaniel has also now been formerly adopted. Donut the sweet pug who was abandoned at AFCD by her owners because she had knee problems, has also been adopted. She is a very sweet and affectionate dog and this is a very happy ending to her sad story.

Feather, the lovely big terrier pup who was abandoned at AFCD was also homed very quickly. Chutney, the boxer that was found wandering on the streets with May (who is still at the kennels), has gone to live with Sasha (who was known as Valentine when she was with us around 2 years ago. She is also a Brindle Boxer). They are both now very good friends, and their new owners are very happy with their new family member.

Perkins and Joy, two very shy and timid pups arrived at around the same time in December. They both improved so much while they were at HKDR. They transformed and blossomed from being absolutely petrified into happy and loving pups. Joy has gone to live with Luna (known as Maggie-Lab cross when she was with us) is doing very well. Perkins is living on Lamma with a couple that love him very much. Perkins managed to slip his harness on Day 1 but luckily (and much to everyones relief), he was found. He is now safe, warm and happy. Hoorah!

Rooney the lovable bulldog is a very lucky dog indeed. Surrendered to AFCD, he has been adopted and will be moving to Canada to start his new life.  Wonderful news!

Jiggy, the black retriever mix, found wandering on the streets will be going to join his family after Chinese New Year. His new home is near the kennels, so we may seem him around our neighbourhood enjoying walks with his new family.

Diego, the beautiful black Lab mix has also been adopted. We are so happy he now has a good and loving home. He had many admirers!

January ended on a high note with the wonderful adoption of darling boy, Spike (Bull Terrier). He found kennel life very very hard, and we are over the moon about him finally going home. He has found a very loving family that care about him very much. He will be going to start his new life in France.

Thank you so much to the adopters that have opened their homes and hearts to these rescue dogs.  Also a big "Thank you" to the volunteers that love and look after the dogs while they wait to go to their new homes.  It adds so much happiness to the dogs' everyday lives and you can see it in their faces and wagging tails.

There are many more lovely dogs waiting at the kennels and I really hope that their new families come along very soon!
