These beautiful altocumulus lenticularis clouds made an impression on Peter Brand when they appeared over Tebar in the Murcia region of southern Spain. The picture was taken on the evening of 4th November. The faint, non-parallel rainbow is likely to have been caused by light refracting from the clouds at a different angle to the double rainbow on either side. Jonathan Wheeler spotted this unusual effect over Findhorn, Moray on 5th November. As the altostratus clouds, which brought rain to Preston in Lancashire, cleared away, the more delicate-looking cumulus clouds stood out in the evening sky.
