他的課本都是讀 “燕詩”。［長恨歌］不包括在課本內，當年好像是忘記帶書本，中 文 老師便要罰我們背唸此詩。

試下讀唐詩三百首，背一背［長恨歌］，可能對文言文有興趣呀!

I love it when I was studying chinese literature, it really depends on how the chinese teachers motivate students to learn it. I found it fascinating!

文言文 should be reserved for studying by retired old geezers with too much time on their hands.

If that is included in the school's syllabus, they won't change it for just one or two students' request. I didn't study chinese either in my high school. I knew all my classmates who did chinese have to do 文言文 which is a compulsory and foundation subject to build good chinese.

那就要看你對中文的要求，如果要寫得好文章，就要從文言文入手，起碼都可以提高鑑賞力，文言文用字好講究。

I can imagine it must be painful for the teacher, students and parents. I think it might be cool to learn about it, but it's not necessary to make it into tests. Too painful

I absolutely agree with you 文言文shall not include in the syllabus unless one opt for!

I think 文言文 should be taught to every student since it is a part of Chinese History. However, I think the way DGS has tested the student is inappropriate, they should at least taught some basic 文言文 before testing them.

I suppose it's up to the school.  They are the ones to decide on the curriculum. 

文言文係難，不過係好有深度同好有意思的．既然暫時改變不了這個要學文言文的教學制度，便要想些辦法來令Karen對它產生興趣去學啊！

But I think it is good for all students to get exposed to.
