Air France . The champion in losing/delaying luggage. Took the airline 3 times. So far, they have been losing our luggage twice in Paris , during the transfer to Bordeaux . First time was me in Feb and this time was my colleague. As figure disclosed, they lost thousands of luggage daily. How awesome.
Bordeaux is a well-known wine city. A heaven for wine lovers. But it is an average tourist-attraction if you are not into wine. Average accessibly if you are not holding a driving license. They have tram and taxi but an outskirt is still an outskirt. I have been to Bordeaux a few times but it’s the first time that I have to stay in one of its outskirt,Merignac for a week!
It’s boring to me! Firstly, I don’t drive. It make me feel more miserable as the hotel which I’m staying, locates at the outside of the Merignac centre. It takes us at least 20 min to walk to the nearest supermarket which I patronize daily, after the exhibition in the Bordeaux Lac.
The traffic on the Rocade is like ‘a dam built right in the middle of the road’. A 20 min drive could take you another one hour to reach. Can’t imagine the life of going to work, you have to be stuck in a jam for an hour on the Rocade (a name for their highway/expressway) and another hour when you are going back home. C'est la vie .(that’s life. I’m not even in Paris )
Good point is that the hotel looks like a resort as it appears. Of course the rooms are not those Bintan resort houses. It s a nice boutique room which I tune to my bed at 10PM daily. France time of course. Else I’ll be proud to declare xinyi has finally changed her sleeping time. In Singapore time, it is almost 4AM. No different from my usual sleeping time.
Back to Vinexpo. Another boring event for me, is a non-wine lover. Both of us were busy counting down the days going back to SG. Boss was busying striking down on the number of dinners which he has to attend each night. (From what I heard from him, cocktails start at 8PM, dinner starts at 10PM and could jolly well end at 2AM the next day) He lives for a week like this.
In June, France has longer day than Night. Sun rises at 6AM and set at 10PM. The sun was warm and glazing, together with the cooling breeze, the weather was a perfect one! Staying in the cold exhibition hall is not doing any good. To defrost, staying under the sun seem to be the best option. In fact, it makes you appreciate the sun more. The heat, unlike Singapore ’s blazing sun, it is so ‘heart-warming’ or ‘body-warming’ If you want to call it this way. My daily routine is to sit along the lake ‘sun-bathing’. Yes, if you are wondering. The exhibition halls located right along a huge man-made lake, known as the Bordeaux Lac. Due to the H1Ni, ‘sun-bathing’ is a good way to kill germs. That is if I bother.

Sitting along the lake. With a book ( Taiwan guide book written by a young HK blogger). Listening to my mp3(Jing’s songs were in my playlist). Looking at the ducks swimming. People kayaking, eating sandwiches, sleeping and stone-ing under the sun. Everything doesn’t suggest a scene that we were in a prestigious wine fair (a very huge one too. It takes a person 30 min to walk form one end to another)

外一章:TAXI IN BORDEAUX ! PETS IN TAXIS!

Taxi is expensive. Not sure how does it charges. Cos it seem like, its jumping every second. A 30 min ride would cost you 30 – 40 euro. It started jumping from 5-7 euro (depend if you are calling a cab or place a luggage in the boot) when you board the taxi.
The interesting part is some of the drivers have pets in their taxi! Dogs! Sitting in the Font passenger’s seat. We took a few taxi and actually met a couple of dogs. One even come over and sit with us!
For those who are afraid of dogs, you just have to be aware but they are friendly of course. Won’t bark at you. May be its good to feed them a couple of sandwiches. (I’m tired of seeing and eating sandwich…good way to dispose them…)

I want that working pass of yours!! You know I've been collecting the working pass I work for ur company too. LOL
I think bordeaux must be a very very very nice place! They have animals on board on their taxis, i think passengers will really feel very relax when they hug those little cuties while looking at the sceneries outside(but definately not when they see the meter) LOL
And.. You really got a fetish of your feet.
blurblock2009-06-28 03:21
you are right, the people are very friendly. I must tell you the kebah story one day. i went there to buy the kebah for over 4 days and the servers don't speak english.
the dogs...i am afraid of them barking at me, even worry that they might bit me. cos there is one which actually crawl over and sat on my lap! i can't move. haha
how you know i like my feet ah? why not shoe? seeing my feet is better than showing my face?
