An affordable 3D printer how much you think is reasonable. recently I browsing the WEB and found some industrial grade need almost HKD 100,000 and Up. But this is not a hobbist can afford. However, If your products not necessary industrial grade precision say 0.1mm and the thickness from 0.4mm (you can check the following WEB for the specification, but funny I only found the comment about the spec. but no PDF file at present) and you only need to pay USD 750. Is this a good news to you?
you may goto their WEB http://store.makerbot.com/ and check this out. I remember some of our fans who particular like this kind of Hi-Tech Toy. But owning this product you should at least a Technical guy otherwise you might not possible to handle this. Since all the electronics, mechnical and even optical alignment need you hand on to assmbly. for some of hobbist might be an hurdle.
According to the Makerbot claimed. For two technical guy part time assembly one set with alignment need take almost 1week to finish. you can see one user his experience and his work out on http://www.built-to-spec.com/blog/ .
Of course I am intend to buy one. But I got several new toys on my hand. Also, at present batch of their product, the support materials cannot be used at present.
