這兩天碰到的人，來自全國不同省份，有湖南、廣州、西安，還有大部份上海人。
但對於我來說，他們都屬於同一個概括性的類別：大陸人。無論從外形、衣著和談吐，暫時還未察覺到他們有任何仔細的區別。唯一知道的是，他們都跟在Times Square 和莎莎瘋狂掃貨的那些人，很不一樣。
不過，最叫我驚訝的是，不少人都說我說話沒有口音，猜不出我是從哪裡來的人，更不像香港人，因為香港人一般都會有廣東口音。咦，這可是我第一次聽到的評語！實在很有趣。因為，我以前幾乎都不用說普通話嘛。
後來我才想起來，四年前我曾跟一位北京老師單對單的學普通話，花了一年時間，按著字典逐個逐個字學發音，結果拼音是學好了，但往後三年毫無用武之地，一擱下來，便日久失修。現在呢，在別人耳中，我的發音可能蠻準確，但說起來生硬程度直逼錄音機，每3秒才吐得出一個字.......
你有聽過18503或1083的電話錄音嗎? 「今日．氣溫．33度．相對濕度．百份之．90／請你．記低．所需號碼......」

我以前喺澳洲，普通話講得真係好「普通」時，耐唔耐就有人話：「你是香港來的嗎？以香港人來說，你的普通話已是講得不錯了。」真唔知係抬舉定係乘機擺香港人取笑一番，聽落都有D醜。
另你所講「墮落的故事」又係乜回事？可唔可以同大家分享下？

Yes, please keep us updated. Very much look forward to all the sharing of your adventures in Shanghai - either good or bad.
BTW, why you need/want to stay in Shanghai if you do not like it? Have you tried to explore other options?
Life is short, especially happy time. I would rather spend my time and life on some other interesting stuff if I were you!

The key is that none of your colleagues were coming from Beijing nor HK, and therefore no one really knows Mandarin!
I shared simillar experience when I were in China - no one knows my accent except those from HK even though the latter also have problems in figuring out if I were speaking in Mandarin... as you could imagine, I could not tell which part of China those Chinese were coming from as well since they all spoke the same greek to me.
I am gald to hear that you had some positive experience so far. If you focus on exploring good stuffs, you will always have some nice surprises. Keep it up!
Enjoy the heat in Shanghai - it is a dream environment for many elegant ladies in HK who pay a lot just for a steam room. Stay positive!
