***************************************************************
Dear Fridayhikers,
The forecast is for a foggy and warm day this Friday. We tried this route a year ago and all of us enjoyed the walk. The map below which I copied from AFCD shows the route. It begins with Wu Kau Tang Country Trail, a moderate climb from Bride's Pool Road to Ah Ma Wa , then it leaves the trail, turning left in the direction of Kuk Po, Ma Hang before reaching Luk Keng.
The route is 6 km and the time needed to complete the walk is 3.5 hours. But last time it took us nearly 4 hours (it was 2 pm ) to reach Luk Keng.
Therefore, make sure you bring enough water and snacks as lunch will be late. Friday walks are for exercise as well as for leisure and enjoyment. So estimate that it would be about 2.45 to 3.15 pm by the time you reach Fanling train station from Luk Keng. Do plan your schedule accordingly or the stress of meeting appointments will defeat the purpose of these walks.
Meeting time: 9 am
Meeting place: Minibus terminal at Tai Po Market train station
We will take minibus No. 20C and get off at the junction of Bride's Pool Road and Wu Gau Tang Road to walk to the starting point which is about 10 minutes' walk from the junction .
The Wu Kau Tang Country Trail starts from Tin Sam Village and ends at Bride's Pool Road. Our starting point is the Bride's Pool Road end of this trail.
Those who want to go to the starting point by other means of transport are welcome to do so but please make sure you know where the starting point is and that you are at the starting point (see map above) by 9.30 am. From previous experience, there is NO mobile network there near the starting point. Do not expect that you can call for instructions.
If you can register early, it will be much appreciated as I can get a headcount and telephone beforehand for a minibus to take us to the starting point from Tai Po Market station. This minibus is usually available only on Sundays and holidays.
