FDU have met Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food Dr York Chow today (21 june) evening. According to Dr Chow, financial arrangement for HA concerning this pay rise issue is not yet confirme. Around 1600 signatures from doctors supporting our action to urge for a fair pay scale were given to him.
It is one of the major reason why we invited Mr Anthony Wu to attend on 23/6/07. You will have the chance to ask Mr Wu directly about your concern.
I will try my best to address your questions.
Point b had been seriously considered during our previous meeting (both within FDU and with PDA) but we decided not to do so at that moment.
About Point a & Point c: Strike has always been seriously considered by us in our follow up plan but in principle we do not want to affect patient service whenever possible. However it does depend on the progress and HA/government's response.
We do welcome advise from all frontline doctors . Many thanks to your kind suggestion! See you on 23/6/07.
Thank you so much for all the efforts you have for our benefit, and I do look forward to seeing you all in the sit-in protest. However, I just have a few relevant questions to ask both the HA and government. Perhaps you can help us to clarify this Sat?
1) If all contract MOs (employed on or after 2000) were made back to the pay scale before 1999, what is the amount of EXTRA money required annually?
2) Now all junior MOs dissatisfied with the suggested increment salary plan. What will be the alternative(s) offerred by the government and HA?
And also I have some questions for the committee members:
a) If the government and HA refuses to comply with our primary objectives (i.e. restoration of pay scale before 1999), what will be our response plan?
b) Have we ever considered to join other government parties who are affected by this issue as well (e.g. lawyer, teacher, etc)?
c) Will FDU and PDA consider strike? If yes, in what form?

FDU has met PDA again tonight and have finalized our 23.6 sit in protest rundownWe have decided all doctors should wear white coat and wear mask when a mass photo is to be taken...
