Straight Edge, refers to a lifestyle that started within the hardcore punk Hardcore 的文化和思想.

源於美國。當地的青年人，因為對社會感到不滿，於是開始想以一個特別和正面的方式去表達和發泄自己的情緒。
Hardcore是一個十分正面的文化思想，跟Punk Rock 很接近 (事實上，它們也是有著漠大的源緣)。
相信和認同hardcore的人，會做義工、為社會服務、不求名利金錢、不會貪圖名牌、不會帶有種族和性別歧視等的思想、反對物質主義‥‥‥　他們所做的都十分正面和有價值。他們不會打鬥，也不會做傷害自己及別人的事去達成目的。

Hardcore 和 Punk Rock 中一種稱為Straight Edge的文化。Hardcore和Punk Rock都同樣支持及尊重它。 Straight Edge始於80年代，它可算是一門哲學。其實它都是為青年人的思想、生體、社會以及環境著想。而堅守Straight Edge的人，不會吸煙、不會吸毒、不會飲含酒精的飲品和不會性濫交，並都會以"X"為標記。就正如表演時，他們常會在手背上畫上"X"的符號等。
