The concept of decication is one that is lost on many people; this is the tragedy of living in a disposable society. In order to be on the path to enlightenment, you have to dedicate yourself to that path. It should be the singular motivating factor in your daily decision making. Will this further me along my path or make me stagnant? Will this keep me on my path or take me off of it?

The only difficulty is in knowing what your path is, but, really, that is almost always an arrgument generated by the negative ego in order to make your spirituality more difficult. You know what your path is. You are on the path to enlightenment, or you would not have picked up this book! So, what does that mean? It means that your actions should be motivated by kindness, love, learning, compassion, generosity, selflessness, and seeking to know the Divine. Actions that are motivated by other things come from the negative ego and should be avoided whenever possible through appropriate use of will.
