四川賑災之行 Disaster Relief in Sichuan

得知四川汶川發生地震后，我和寰宇希望的另外一位同事Rock在5月15日清晨趕到了成都進一步了解災區情況和進行救災工作。在汶川大地震中雖然成都也受到了影響但是我們看到除了在街道兩旁很多市民搭起了臨時帳篷避震之外市民的生活一切都很正常。

華西醫院是接收、救治從災區轉移到成都的主要醫院之一。在與寰宇希望的當地合作伙伴相關人士會合之后，我們趕到了華西醫院看望在那里接受治療的受傷群眾和小孩。到了醫院之后我們看到醫院的床位都已經被占滿，為了讓盡可能多受傷群眾可以在到達醫院的第一時間接受治療很多經過處理病情穩定的病人都被轉移到了其它的醫院，在過道上也支搭起來臨時床位。

在醫院的兒童外科我們看到很多小朋友的手活者腳因為壓在倒塌房屋的廢墟下面太長的時間已經變成了黑色并且失去了知覺。醫生說由于被壓的時間太長，被壓部位的細胞已經壞死無法復原只能截肢，但是會爭取時間盡早并且盡可能使截肢面積縮小。當我看到那些稚嫩、天真的臉龐的又想到在接下來的一生中他都需要去承受此次地震災害的后果和傷害的時候，覺得很沉重和難過。但是他們是那樣的堅強，他們告訴我因為疼他們一整晚都沒睡好但是在他們的眼里沒有淚水。當我們把他們想要看的漫畫以及笑話書拿到他們手中的時候他們很開心的看了起來好像忘了他們所處的環境一樣。

之后我們又來到了醫院的骨科，在這里接受治療的傷員都是年紀稍微大一點的學生或者是成人。我們看到所有人都已經接受了簡單的處理准備進行進一步的治療。有一位14歲的小孩是從什邡縣轉移過來的。因為救援車容納不了太多人，所以他的父母無法跟他一起來到醫院。當我們把幫他打來的飯給他之后他和我們講述了5月12日下午地震的時候他的經曆。在附近的病房我們見到了几個從汶川縣旋口中學轉移過來的高中生。

此次成都之行告訴我這次地震中被影響的孩子需要長期的關注與幫助。我想他們所需要的不僅僅是身體被醫治他們更需要我們走進他們的內心明白、鼓勵他們。

After the earthquake in Sichuan, China occurred, I (Rocky) and my colleague in HOPE worldwide, Rock, arrived at Chengdu (the largest and nearest city to the disaster areas) on May 15 to assess the situation and provide necessary assistance. Although there were many temporary shelters erected on streets, people’s lives in Chengdu were not affected much.

Hwaxi hospital is one of the main hospital for receiving injured victims from the disaster areas. We met with our local volunteers (around 100 in total) and arrived at the hospital to help providing care to the injured and children. The hospital was full of patients. After immediate treatments, many patients were sent to other hospitals nearby for long term care.

In the Paediatric wards, there were many children suffering from loss of limbs due to prolonged pressure under debris. Most of them had to undergo surgeries for amputation. When we looked the children’s faces and their suffering in the earthquake, we were all saddened. On the other hand, they were also strong in emotion. They told us that the pains in the bodies made them sleepless, but they had not shed tears. When we brought them the comics they wanted, they were so happy that it seemed they had forgot what they had been gone through recently.  

In the Orthopaedics wards, there were many injured high school students and adults. They had all been treated and awaited for further treatments. A 14 years old student from Shifang county was transferred to the hospital. Due to the limited capacity of the ambulance, his parents could not join him to come here. When we helped with some food, he told us what had happened in that afternoon of May 12.  

There are many people, especially children, are affected. What they need is not only physical treatments to their injuries, they are more in need for having someone to listen to and encouragement from people around them.
