Last month was a month of dieting.  Ever since my wedding, I have been eating with no hesitation and finally come to realize that I have gained over 10lbs.

So, I have decided that I must get back in shape.  Did some research and found that Detox + Acai has been really popular in the States recently.  But I was very desperate to lose weight fast.  So I started off with Atkins diet for 2weeks, then went right into Detox + Acai (9 days), and now I am controlling my calories as well as exercising (aerobics) for 3 - 4 times a week.

The result?

Now (as of May 28)

Weight Result - I lost a total of 6lbs only.  But I would not measure myself with how much I weight anymore sure I definately have gained some muscle weight doing all that exercise.  Just very happy with my figure now.

So here was what I did:

WEEK 1 & 2 - ATKINS DIET

Method - Ate at an average of 20g of carbs per day for two weeks straight.

Meals - Breakfast cucumber and cherry tomato, Lunch salad, Dinner meat and veggies

Exercise - none, I didn't feel weak but I did feel that I had no energy even as I was walking slowly up the stairs.  You can really feel how carbs gives you the energy you need to move around.

Result - lost 4lbs in two weeks

Opinion - No a healthy diet unless you can really control yourself to eat mainly veggies.  For a few nights I had dinner out and I could not stop myself from eating meat.  Why?  Because I kept thinking I will still lose weight as long as I am not eating carbs.

WEEK 2 & 3 - DETOX AND ACAI BERRY TABLETS(2)

Method - Total procedure took 9 days which included 5 days of fasting in between (www.blessedherbs.com).  The other 4 days I ate mainly cooked or steamed veggies.  Additionally, I was taking Acai Berry with Pomegranates (2 tablets a day).  Can't believe I survived from not eating for 5 days.  It's amazing! 

Meals - Salads or steamed veggies.  Fresh organic apple juice.  And the pills + powder drinks which came with the package.

Exercise - none, I wouldn't dare to do exercise if I had not eaten for 5 days.

Result - lost 2lbs (Total of 6lbs including Atkin's diet)

Opinion - I would recomend the detox to everyone who dares to fast for 5 days.  It was a good experience.  The fresh apples juice was a bit pricy and time consuming but it tasts pretty good.  It also trained to be drink more than 8 glasses of water a day.  My skin improved and it gave me the desire to keep drinking lots of water daily.  Now I drink AT LEAST 8 glasses of water per day.  You would realize drinking water is actually THAT IMPORTANT.  Also, drinking water can get you full, which leads to eating less.  And, I think I would've lost around 4lbs if I hadn't done the Atkins diet prior to this.  The reason is that the first few pounds you lose is always the "waste" in your body.  In terms of the acai pill, it gave me a little tiny bit more energy...but in my conclusion, it's garbage.  It doesn't do all the magic which Oprah claimed it does.

My tummy actually looked bigger because it was bloated from the detox powder that I had to drink every 3 hours.

WEEK 6 & 7 - FUNKY DANCING (PRESENT CONDITION)

Method - Eating approximately 1,100-1,300 calories per day except for weekend (around 1,500-1,800 calories)  My BMI is 1,200 which means if I were to not move for an entire day, my body would burn 1,200 calories.  So I joined Funky Dance at QRE and loves it.  Each class is 1.5hrs and I do it 3 to 4 times a week depending on how much I ate over the weekend.  If i ate a lot, I would try my best to do 4 classes the following week.

Meals - eating approximately 1,100 - 1,300 calories per day on weekdays (plus appox 10 glasses of water per day).  Example: Breakfast cucumber and cherry tomato, Lunch fishball vermicelli with boiled lettuce, Dinner veggies and a few pieces of fish and meat.  Each meal, I would tell myself to eat 70% full.  But I always end up eating 90%   Oh, and I reward myself everynight with 1 small cookie..hahaha

Exercise - Yes, 3 - 4 times a week, 1.5hr each (moderate dancing).  So if you think about it, the week that I went 3 times, I have already done 4.5hrs of exercising for the week.  That is equivalent to losing approximately 1,500 calories.  And 3,500 calories = 1lb.  It is a lot of sweating.  But funky dance is fun, time goes by in a blink.

Result - I lost another 1lb, but it also includes gaining some muscle weight.  It trimmed my tummy and waist by at least 1inch.  And it is actually a lot of fun.  Funky dance is a combination of hip hop, jazz, latin, twist, etc...The whole purpose is to move around intensely for 1.5hrs.  The last 15 minutes is always training and stretching.  It is important as I want lean mucles and not become bulky.  Right now, even after a big meal, my tummy would NOT stick out!  Yea, it's flat throughout the day.

Opinion - So far, I Funky Dance has been my favorite dieting technique.  BUT, you must do portion controls on what you eat.  And if you can do this and keep it as a regular, you would be able to keep that weight off for as long as you keep up with the routine.  To me, I am also feeling happy/proud about myself because for sure this is a healthy hobby.  I am hoping to continue this Funky Dancing to further improve my figure (the arms, thighs and hip area)

OVERALL OPINION:

Atkin's diet - easy, fast result, but it's not very healthy.  And you will have no energy for exericsing.  Not even for walking up hill.

Detox - the fasting is what made me lose weight.  I don't think detox really "cleanses" your body.  But since it taught me to drink water, I give it credit.  I would do detox again in the future as a Fad Diet if needed.  (Hope I will not need to)

Acai - garbage!

Funky Dance - it's really something good to have in a daily routine.  Other than body toning and losing fat, I have gained energy (before I slept 9hrs, now I only need 7-8hrs).  Not only that, my reflex is also much quicker.  Plus, spending more time in front of the mirrow can make you prettier.  Why?  Find out for yourself!
