My sharemate is gonna leave me for 4 days, am not gonna see her until Wed night (today is Sat).
No plan to see anyone this weekend, in fact there aren't many people I can meet up with here. I woke up so early today coz the safety officer came at 8: 30 in the morning to inspect the smoke detectors. I couldn’t get back to sleep afterwards so I did my laundry (did it earlier so that my clothes would be dried by tonite) and return to bed (just lay on it while waiting for the washing to finish. I could finally leave home around 11, and it was such a sunny day, blue clear sky … weather was so good. Couldn’t waste the weekend staying at home, I need to leave job hunting aside once in a while. Sat is always my no job hunting day here. I could just wear a short-sleeve top in the day time.
My dad just called and asked if I felt bored coz I’m alone all the times. Well, I guess I still enjoy strolling on the street in super nice weather. I don’t feel bored as long as I can walk on the street seeing beautiful sky. Today I just continued with my visits to different weekend markets. I picked Glebe today coz it's so far the most convenient market for me to go (walkable). I went there once 7 years ago, but I guess I like this place a bit more from today onward. I would even put it on my favorite list but not the Paddington Market. The size (no. of stalls) of both markets are pretty much the same (not really big actually), but the layout of Glebe market is more user-friendly and the items sold here are a lot more down to earth / usable. In fact I spent at least half hour walking to the market, but that's fine, coz I need to look for place for a brunch or breakfast at noon. I knew there were quite a lot of cafes along the main st. in Glebe, most with outdoor seating so just kept on walking until I saw no more cafes in the next few blocks. I had a really nice egg benedict at a Mediterranean cafe (Greek maybe?), which gave a good start to my day. They have really beautiful pouched eggs with grilled tomato, mushrooms and bacon on the side, and the hollandaise sauce was also served separately. The only recommendation to them is the English muffin. I don’t mind they were the standard stuff that can be bought in a supermarket but would it be better if they could at least toast them? For the Cappuccino, well, I would say it’s not strong enough. I then went to the market … wow, while I remembered I spent only like half an hour in Paddington, I spent at least an hour here. I believe I would come here shopping instead of window shopping some day.
It wasn’t even 2pm when I finished walking the Glebe market so I decided to take a short cut through Sydney U and walked to Newtown , another hip place in town. It took me another half hour walk but this time it’s just walk … simply strolling along King Street . There is another weekend “market” in front of Newtown Town Hall , but I would not recommend anyone to go … I mean just for the market. King St is a really unique place, can find restaurants serving all kinds of cuisines, clothing shops (vintage and new), homewares, second-hand goods, antiques, books, records, guitar shops (can find the best gigs in Newtown, hope there are someone to go with me some day) ... it’s such a small suburb but very independent and energetic.
It was about 3 pm that I decided to go to city. I didn’t want to walk thru Sydney U again bocoz of wrong direction, but the same time I didn’t want to walk along city road (nothing to see) so I finally took a bus back to city. Had a quick walk in the Paddy Market to shop for veges, and I finally bought my first bunch of leafy veges here … Choi Sum. I prepared (chopped) too many ingredients for friend rice the other day so I decided to make friend rice for dinner again. Also went to the butcher to buy some beef and pork bone for making soup later. I went straight home immediately to prepare the stuff. Boiled rice (let it cool for making fried rice tonite), boiled the pork bone (and put into freezer for future use), cut the beef into piece (for making soup tonite … it’s so harsh .. I wish they can cut the beef into pieces for me like those butchers in hk), wash the veges. Finished these preparation work and realized it’s still before 4:30. Sky is still sunny outside, so I decided to catch a free bus to the Circular Quays/ the Rocks. The sky becomes all dark around these days and I would prefer to stay at home afterwards … so I would take every chance to go out when there’s still daylight outside. I took a new book and bought some snacks to eat on the shore just opposite to the Opera House. I always enjoy doing my weekend reading outdoor ( in a park or a recreational site) which is NOT packed, it’s just I couldn’t find such a place in hk. Spent like 40 min there (coz it’s getting colder and it’s sunset time) and then headed back to home after grabbing something from a nearby supermarket.
Take a short rest and then it’s time to cook my dinner. Here comes my dinner (actually for tomorrow’s dinner also coz I can’t just cook for 1 serving after preparing so many stuff):
Choi Sum n beef soup, plus fried rice with salmon, zucchini n mushroom

Can't believe I've done so many things today.
