Lake District

As I stepped in front of houses made of old lakeland slates, mostly over 400 years old, I was stunned by what came into my eyes - waves of mild green plains, boundless, with a mysterious touch sent from the layers of grey scattered clouds above.  

This is Lake District, 3.5-hr-train from Central London towards the north, almost reaching the skirt of Scotland.  It was somewhat a low season for the area because of the chilly weather and the dimmed sky.  Just perfect for me, nice and quiet.

My mom and I stayed there for one night.  This was shot through the window of our room...

I visited the attraction of Beatrix Potter's World.  Unfortunately, it was the smallest 

among the 3 galleries about her.  The other two were closed for winter.  Here,

all i did was having a baked potato and a bowl of soup for lunch and then a little tour around the gift shop...

Our first location of Lake District is called Windermere.  For tourists, it's one of the biggest stop and it's reachable by train.  The old houses here were built with lakeland slate stones found specifically from this area.  The style of each building, including even the thickness of every glass window is regulated by the government, so as to preserve the original flavour of this town.

Swans and little ducks can be seen everywhere along the sidewalk...

 

Then I took a boat to a nearby place called Ambleside, and then from there, a short taxi ride to the spectacular Grasmere...

How beautiful... Each blink of my eyes captured the surprises born by this fairyland, imprinting pictures and inspiring imagination to my heart...

This is a view across Dove Cottage (once the home of William Wordsworth).  The little path leads to the Wordsworth cafe and ticket centre. 

Tracing the paths of poets has been a big purpose of my trip.  Knowing the famous

Dove Cottage was home for the great English poet William Wordsworth, I paid

special attention to the details while visiting the place and the Wordsworth museum 

nextdoor.  The delicacy of William's words moved me so much that I wrote a new song

on my return trip to London.  I look forward to sharing it with everyone.
