When I first came to US, I was so scared and dared not to communicat with the others. For my English was not good enough to speak and listen to the others, at least I was not get used to it. I remembered I even dared not to pick up the phone in my house when it rang.
Since I worked in the casino, there were a lot of things happened. They made me felt there were some discriminations. Might be because I was a Chinese origin and a new employee. As the supervisor always picky on me. No matter what hppened, it was all my fault. I was the only one that she blamed to. I cried sometimes when I went home after work. But I still dared not to exprees my feeling in English.
After all these years, when I am getting older, my English is much better than before. At least, I dare to tell my feeling, I'll try to fight back on my right if anything happened and unfair to me. Probably, I am an old employee now, I've worked 11 years in this casino. Everybody knows me. All the department heads trust me because they know that I am an honor, hardworking person. They listen to me and sometimes they accept my opinions too.
Even though, I know there are still something unfair and discriminate in the casino. I am now getting better to face it. I will tell my manager or department heads what is happening. Sometimes I also help the other Chinese employees, translate Chinese to English for them to their supervisors.
Is it a breakthrough to me ?

Discrimination is an issue whereever you go! I agree with Big Daddy and HK Chinese are certainly one of the worst when comes to discrimination. So all we have to do is try our best and eventually people will show us respects.

You have to be the one to "not let it happen", to let them know that "I won't have it" and stand up and speak up for yourself.
Glad that you're getting so much better in this now.

I think discrimination is everywhere, regardless our background, educational level, personality and nationality. It just happens. What we can do is fight for our rights when we can. Otherwise all we can do is ignore those people who try to discriminate us. Because after all, they're those who lost their "身份"
