It seems monumental when Premier Wen visited those travelers stranded in Guangzhou . Wen also used a megaphone to deliver remarks to the passengers. It harks back to that defining moment when President Bush toured the remains of World Trade Center after the September 11 tragedy. Both share a similarity: mending fences (of not doing/ preparing sufficient for the unpredicted). It is too premature to say whether this traffic mishap is a (Hurricane) Katrina moment or a 911 one. While using a bullhorn, the ruler intends to be portrayed as a leader.
Yet my focus is not on the bullhorn. Hordes of migrant workers long for going home once a year. They deserve better. Even when there is an economic resurgence of China , it is after all a refugee pariah. When can our populace make our ends meet?
