Cambodia Trip 2009 Day 2

What a pity... We didn't bring our swimsuits.

btw, we set off to the Sunday Market on the 2nd day. This market was soooo dirty, full of smoke & flies, mingled with children beggar. Becoz it's only open on Sunday, so it's called Sunday Market. There're lots of local food too.

Sea shells

Local fish. It's natural and caught from the river. In chinese, '筍殼魚'.

Roasted 'big-head' shrimp...looks yummy  But for the sake of our health, it was suggested not to eat them.

Weird turtle.

Another local famous fruit. It's a kind of pineapple which is bigger & much more sweet than those in HK.

Unknown fruit. It's quite juicy, bit sour & sweet and there's a big black seed inside.

Funny beggar...only got 2 strings on his survival tool.

Their so-called 'vacation village'. The most expensive one is just located on the opposite side of the river. Usually the locals only get there during the weekend.

The home is just that simple, only some hammocks & blankets.

Then, the harsh part was to take a 5.5 hr journey on a bus. Lucky that the scenary was so fascinating.

In this journey, we saw a horrible thing. Don't be panic. The spider was real. The little girl earned $ by begging people to buy her banana, playing her spider with the tourists, scaring them for jsut hoping them to pay little $ to her. Sigh, poor little girl.

Yack...she was eating her 'toys' this time.

There are tens of thousands of such children living in this country due to the Khmer Rouge (Pol Pots War). This war started from 1975 and it lasted for 28 yrs. Although there's a smile on her face, i can still imagine that the war only brought misery, starvation, economic turmoil ... to this country. sigh... : |
