Skysports.com understands Middlesbrough have finalised a deal to bring in Dave Kitson on loan.

Kitson has struggled to find his best form for Stoke since a big-money move to the Britannia Stadium from Reading in the summer of 2008.

He has scored just two Premier League goals and does not appear to figure too highly in Tony Pulis' plans for the immediate future.

The Potters have therefore allowed Kitson to link up with Boro until January and they will hope he gets some regular football under his belt.

Middlesbrough have fallen off the pace at the top of the Championship table following a bright start to the season.

They have lost their two matches since Gordon Strachan took charge and the new manager is keen to put his own stamp on the squad.
