Still remember few years ago all secondary school English teachers had to sit for an English Test ? and most of them thought it was an insult.

Last year the Company I’m working in also required us to do “BULATS” (business language testing service) which was organized by British Council. All staff are compulsory to sit for the exam regardless of grading.
Those who failed were provided with in-house English lessons. It was quite scary ah and luckily I passed.

Good to realize there is no "s" after the word [staff] even want to express in plural form.
My C.O.O hasn't obtained bachelor degree but has very good command of English,especially in written,however, he often writes "staffs" in the emails -_-"

the result was confidential but I managed to know.......... about 40% were failed and most of them were junior clerical and accounting staff, some managers as well......
The English training course was held in the office, therefore all of us knew who had failed ah......

It's called benchmark test. Acutally nobody opposed that test except the English teachers themselves, as far as I can remember.
And Nap Nap you certainly didn't need luck to pass that BULATS.
