This morning when I was glancing through the newspaper, '草食男' these three words caught my eyes. ('Herbivorous men' is my translated version of 草食男, absolutely not the official one. Tell me if you know how it should be translated.) I scratched my head hard for its meaning but in vain. I jumped to the conclusion that it referred to those men who're vegetarians. (You know most men are meat eaters. Veggies aren't that many. That's why they're worth writing about.) To confirm my guess, I quickly swallowed every word in that article about '草食男'. Dear me! I was totally side tracked. It meant nothing close to my guess. Do you know what '草食男' means? Nod your head? You're really in. Salute! Shake your head? Don't feel bad. We're not out but just behind. (Afterall, new words come up every day. Not knowing one or two won't harm. Agree?)
What does it mean exactly? It means gentle men. Mind you! It's not gentlemen in one word but in two separate words, men without big amibition but pay attention to minor details of their their body and appearance. Really interesting! Men are evolving to that level. Good or bad? No comment.
When I think about the men around, true, there're more and more 'herbivorous men' especially in upper secondary and tertiary institutions. On TV screen, they appear here and there as well, those flower like boys (花美男, 꽃미남). Guess they spend more time on their face than many girls do. At least, more than Miss Wong and Miss Wong's friends.
If you're interested in knowing more them, read the article I found in 881903.com (Commercial Radio). Ay! With more and more of them around, girls can get more good sisters who can accompany them to gym, to do facial, to go shopping and to exchange gossips. But I feel sorry for those who're looking for husbands. Where can they find their Mr Right?
