Giving Directions to Macau's World Heritage (conversation topic 1~12/2009)
Dear Boys and Girls:
Many tourists come to Macau every year, some of them are attracted by the Historic City Center(歷史城區), which is now one of the World's Cultural Heritage. This time you will try to give directions to Macau's World Heritage. Read the examples and look at the pictures, they may help you with your work. You can have two or three persons in one group.
Some examples in giving directions:
Q. How do I go to the Senado Square?
A. Walk along this road and turn right at the second corner / block.
Q. How do I get to The Guia Light House?
A. Walk along this road and turn left at the traffic lights, then go up the hill.
Giving suggestions:
Q. How do I get to A-Ma Temple from here?
A. Oh, it is far away. You may take a taxi.
A. Oh, it is very far. Cross this street at the traffic lights and then take bus No. 5 / route 5.
You may also say something about Macau's World Heritage. For example, you may ask
Q. Do you know where the Moorish Barracks is? I don't know where it is.
A. Yes, I know where it is, but I have never been there.
In your conversation, you must ask questions and answer question like the examples. Each person must say at least 10 sentences(Hello and Goodbye not included). Make sure you must have your scripts ready early because the monitor will collect you papers one day before your lessons. If you don't know how to read the names of the buildings, please do not hesitate to ask Mr. Chiang or your English teachers.
(If Mr. Chiang made any typing mistakes, please let him know. Thanks so much!)
