Chet's "The Storyteller Live" has moved to a larger venue and I personally think he's much suitable to held his live in those relatively smaller venue like the Shousen Theatre of Arts Centre. The atmosphere is very alienated and the audiences cannot interact with the performer on stage with such a great distance (although the venue Star Hall at Kln Bay is already a small venue itself). Chet has to do a lot of warm ups to get the audiences involved, such as coming down from the stage to kiss the audiences, those gossip news you can read from the news.
Compared with his first big concert at Elizabeth Stadium, Chet chooses more songs from his every albums to perform, bringing them some brand new arrangements by his big band. The style varies from blues, jazz, funk to classical which further enrich the layers of the songs. As Chet says, he wants to give a new life and further explorations to his songs when he has the ability to do so. When he first recorded these songs he cannot afford the resources to have the full band arrangements.
Last night Chet gave us the chance to review his 5 years career, from the very simple pillow songs, his stage performance songs with the W theatre to his recent urban travelogue albums. There are some intimate moments when Chet shared his stories about his family, his faith in music and his devotion to what and whom he believes in. Besides the sexuality issue that the media constantly concerns and focus on, there are valuable inspirations derived from the music and attitude of Chet.
p.s. the special appearance of Johnathan Lee 李宗盛 is very heartwarming, I like his "愛的代價" too much. Leung Jo Jo 梁祖堯 is another surprise and their duet brings me back to their stageplay "馴情記".
when Chet sings "紅河村", Chet cries at the lyric that impresses me the most, feels like we have experienced something in common.
