i didn't know it is such a tough process to introduce BARF to cats.   i'm prepared that they may have upsets in their stomaches since my friend had that experience when her dog started BARF.  Her little cocker suffers diahrrea for about 1 weeks during the switch.  it's tough!   but i didn't expect that what i face is another challenge.  cats are quite different from dogs who are willing to eat everything.  cats are quite concious with what they're eating.

i remembered on that day when i fed them the 1st meal of BARF, it took me over 1 hour to prepare all ingredients, they were so hungry and eager to come to the bowl, smelled it  and then went away.  you can imagine that it was quite frustrating.   on the next day,  i tried again with different ingredients.   it took me another month to try to find different dishes including fish fillet, chicken breast, chicken thighs and even salmon sashimi.  finally, there is 1 dish, minced cooked chicken breast, that they are willing to try.

it took me another month to gradually switched from cooked chicken to cooked fish fillet and then the raw fish.  however, in the process of switching from traditional cat food to raw food diet, i found another digestive problem with my little jimmy again.   he a such a hurry eater that he simply swallows everything put into his month without chewing them.  therefore, it is so easy for him to cough out the food when the food does not really go into his stomach but stuck in the middle.   he once coughed out the whole tip of a chicken wing, which is about 10cm in length, 3 mins after the meal.   terrible!   after knowing this, i have another new task to hold every single piece of meat/bone/..... in order to slow down his speed of eating.  tough again ........

    Dear Kammie,

My name is Harry, and I am the wholeseller of K9 Natural in Hong Kong.  I have read about your frustration on feeding BARF to cat and the diahrea problem.  To feed BARF, we need to add enzyme to help dog's or cat's digestive system.  In the wild, they can get enzyme from the pray's organs, for example in lamb or cow stomach (tripe - a natural probiotic).  BARF is not only raw meat but with other contains such as bone, liver, heart, kidney, tripe, etc.  Then you can get a balance BARF diet for your cat.  This week I have watched a TV program from Asia World channel introducing the wild cat life in France in which most of the wild cat hunt field mice for their primary food.
