Jules Renard wrote, ‘Le Bonbeur cest de la chercher La Couspaude.’ I did have a good time too.
The startings are as fine. Chateau Jean de Gue 2004, AC Lalande de Pomerol, shows breath of nose from f mixed black fruit and dried viandes, and is quite woody. Medium length with a complex and spicy finish. Lagrave Aubert 2006 Ac Cotes de Castillon gives interestingly and rare by now dry red fruit( Logan and Lychee), licoriced and spiced, ponting also to a lightish and pleasant finish. Sarget Aubert 2006 AC ST. Emilion Grand Cru gives intense and ripe fruit with a velvety, dry finish. With also very intense palate, it does not appear surprising to all as it has been able to fetch the 2nd runner in the Exhibition’s St. Emilon GC Meet!
The core tasting is still on La Couspade, in which I remember well the2004-its vivid cherry+plum noise with bit of dry violets and lingering sandalwood with vaindes and more-with the lurking bit of lushness, hinting grass, woods etc.. Its 2006 is even better with ripe, plumy, pruney and raisiny nose echoed by the same on palate, hinting smoke, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a cake/biscuit finish. A splash of the green tones of Cabs, soft but intense dry, spicy finish. All wines tasted remind me of the soils.
