啊!我終於明白點解日本既英文會將white讀成ho-wai-to, 前面好重H音!!
原來如此!

响加拿大好似好多人都讀hw。

我聽講有好多美國人都會讀 "wh" 音, e.g. What!  係唔係呢? 我想睇下我個英文老師啱唔啱, 係佢講架.

唔知大家對yahoo blog個革新有咩意見呢?

我發覺大家打既英文就算係一個字, 去到行尾就會自動換行, 將個字斬成兩截囉~好樣衰

我以前都有諗過wh-發音既問題, 我以前部好易通係讀hw音, 不過我都係一直讀w音~而家阿sir解釋原因後, 明晒!

I am a student in Hong Kong, but I always retain the "wh" sound in words beginning with "wh". In fact, some Americans I met who came from Charlottetown (Virginia), Dallas (Northeastern Texas) and Nashville (Tennessee) pronounce the "wh" sound too, albeit with very American pronounciation apart from the characteristic "wh" sound. (Especially the one from Charlottetown, which was once my English teacher... and I still consider his American accent is some of the finest, albeit the accent is a bit different from the "standard" American pronunciation).

Almost all Canadians and New Englanders do not pronounce the "wh" sound in "wh" words.

It's quite interesting that the word " witch" was brought up during this halloween season! :)

It also reminded me of a long forgotten movie " Blair Witch Project" .

英文同音字本來就極多。聽慣了，加上明白上文下理就不會聽錯。

你總不會把 What are you doing 聽成 Watt are you doing，把 witch-hunt 聽成 which-hunt 吧。
