本集借鬼佬講廣東話的奇怪口音,跟大家談廣東話和英文 /d/ 音在響音之間的不同讀音。由於話題不必以影像輔助講解,今次就只有錄音了。
本網誌的好朋友 YouTube 終於登陸香港了!我也把我頻道登記地方由UK改為HK。香港人,也去申請個帳戶吧。也別忘了訂閱我的頻道呢。讓「英文由F字學」起成為香港的 No. 1 吧!

I think contrasting accents of different ethical groups can be useful too.
Mainland Chinese and Japanese people say "Senkyu" for "thank you" while Cantonese speakers say "Fenkyu."
It means many Hong Kong people do not perceive the "s"-like part of the sound.

以上是我回報網主helped me sort out many loose ends in practical English pronunciation的一點個人學習心得。

Sounds like you're having a blocked nose. Take care.

廣東話與英語的d音,兩者除有清(unvoiced)和濁(voiced)的分別外,還有一點很重要的,就是發音位置上的分別。廣東話的d是個齒音(dental sound),發音時舌尖抵住上門牙後面,英語的d則是個齒齦音(alveolar sound),發音時舌尖抵住上門牙後齒齦(alveolar ridge)的位置,不接觸到門牙。
事實上,所有廣東話的齒輔音(dental consonants),對應到英語,都要改為齒齦輔音(alveolar consonants)才地道,這些音包括t, d, l, n, s, z, sh, hard sh (ge as in garage), ch 和 soft g (g as in gin).

:) I see your points, Teacher.
Anyway, it's cute to hear it from a 5 years old and it's not so cute from an adult.

I know a kid ( 5 years old , CBC). he speaks very good cantonese but whenever he says "yes/can or can't" iin cantonese, he says "duck"! or " ng duck" He soo emphasizes on the K sound as if people would understand him better! :)
I think your foreign teacher was thinkin the same? hehe. very interesting.
well, you could make another 24 sound clips just for the prounciations of each alphabet! :) ( let see if you could relate a cute lil story to each one of them! ) hehe.
Duck ng duck? :)

The Teacher is right. Foreign learners should be aware that in Cantonese plosives in word-final positions are never audibly released, and are reinforced by a glottal stop, giving rise to the typical choppy feeling of the language.

I found this video hilarious! You said we should start learning English from the "F" word, is it because of this?
P.S. I really find those voiced sounds are extremely difficult to pronounce naturally in a sentence...

Siu,
Be specific, my concern is not over the pronunciation of the only word 'strategy', rather, when 'strategy' combines with other words,i.e. in a sentence. For a better sound, I need to pause before speaking the word though that can be an intonation pause. But I don't satisfy with that, I need a method which allows me to speak it smoothly and correctly even in a debate.
Please, have mercy~~

Siu,
Can you please teach me how to pronounce 'strategy' ?
I know how that works but is there any method to speak it more naturally? My tongue just can't vibrate in that way!!
Thanks.
