Huckie's diagnosis updated

Huckie's diagnosis is not good - it's called Feline Dilated Cardiomyopathy.

Dr. Michael at Stanley Vet did an EKG, ultra-sound & x-rays on Huckie, and confirmed the unusual enlargement of his right heart. This causes his heart to beat slower & his blood is not oxygenated enough; this also leads to his pulmonary edema (build up of fluids in his lungs).

A full blood test shows that everything is normal so far, except for the high protein. Dr. Michael said there isn't any medicine for his heart condition, except one that can help expand his arteries. Also we have to use diuretics (which is commonly called "water pills") to remove the fluid from his lungs.

But he has to be re-tested as the vet suspects cancer infection.

However, the vet explains that all of the above will not cause his Horner syndrome (3rd eyelid)...

We are still hopeful, and are open to non-invasive treatments whenever possible. We will explore all options and we will make every single day of Huckie's life as comfortable & as happy for him as possible.
