5:45am - wake up and go to the u.s. consulate for a u.s. visa, for myself and parents.
8:00am - arrive Central and take a breakfast before going for the appointment at 8.45pm
8:30am - arrive the consulate. more than 50 ppls are there lining up with paper & documents on hand.
9:00am - our turn to present all supporting documents to someone who is sitting outside the conslate and scanning the documents. PROBLEMS - I have not filled in my parents' parents information, and thus they are not allowed to get in to see the officer. Dammit!........what a big deal for not filling in this information? they are all over 80s or 90s living in China or some are even pass away. is it that important to refuse an interview due to this??? is there anything my parents' parents can do with this application??? ok, "sorry, can I add it right now?" "NO". if this is an important information and now I miss to fill in, why can't I add it to the form now??? SUGGESTION - go to the town hall nearby and work out the application form again and print it and come back here before 11:30am". I am not sure if I can make it in somewhere which I am not familiar with, and not sure if there are devices to support me doing like being at home. I need to scan the picture, upload to the form, fill in the form and print it out. any single obstacle will fail to get the confirmation printed out. there is too many uncertainties and I decide to give up this GOOD suggestion. another option is to get it done by Angus and send to a friend working in Central to print it out and I go and collect it. it seems workable but later on I find it is too complicated to do like this as I need to bother 2 more ppl. finally I give up too.
10:00am - go back to the consulate and tell that fxxking man that I decide to get in with myself, and redo my parents application next time. I have no choice. getting 1 visa done is better than nothing. I take a sick leave for this today and I cannot go home with empty hands.
10:10am - get into the fxxking consulate after my belongings and my body has been throughtly checked. yes, my body! the fxxking machine alarms when I am passing thru the security gate. what weapons/metals do you think I can take with me, in additional to my rolex. everyone should leave their mobile to the security man, I almost leave my bag and my documents to the security man too. I am too nervous under such atmosphere, treating everyone like a terrorist. then, I get into a big room, the first thing to do is to give all your finger prints to a fxxking machine, before you can see the consulate officer. meanwhile, one of the applicants go to see the officer and is turned down within 30 seconds. what a poor guy! paid $1040 but only got a reply: NO! you are not allowed to get into our holy U.S. territories.
11:10am - still waiting to see the officer. my ticket no. is #115, but now #175 is called to see. what a fxxking logic!!! finally, it is my turn and I go to counter #7. a young American ( I think he is an american) is sitting there. I show my very tight smiling face and say good morning. only 2 questions have been asked and then he leaves 1 sentense to me: have a nice trip! I say thank you!!! he grants me a holy u.s. visa just in 30 seconds!!! after spending 30 mins queueing outside, 30 mins of struggling how to do, and another 1 more hour waiting inside! I must thank him anyway!
hey guys, we go to the U.S. to spend money, not to rob you or bomb you!!!
that's the end of the story, or may be not the end as I still need to take care of my parents application again.
* excuse my bad language, as it really pissed me off..........
