101 years old, he still doesn't want to retire.
"清晨6時30分就到辦公室,通常晚上約11時回到家."
Do you want to break this record?
Of course, you have to have such a long life first and then decide whether you still want to work at the age of 101, 102 or 103 ..........

I don't want to mix life with work. Maybe that's the reason why I am always the last one who comes to the office and the lab. I am toooooo lazy~~
Thoughts2009-09-11 00:44
Thanks for visiting me.
It's actually a good thing not to mix your personal life with work. Anyway, we still have to do our job right, do my best too.

Haha , I think he is a good example for those aged people !
We never expect a man like his age could work as a solicitor!

I really praise him !!!

Quality aging is a blessing.

That's what we all long for.

工作能夠令人更加投入生活,老人家有點事情分散注意,反而會少一些病痛呢!
Thoughts2009-09-09 09:46
That's true, especially for those who truly enjoy working.

It's just not for us to say how long we're gonna live and whether we're going to stay healthy after we retire.
Let's hope that we all can have a long, healthy and happy retirement.

I do admire their hardwork and determination. Not a lot of people could have strong minds like that, you know.
Your reply reminded me another couple, who's at their 40s I guess. The husband is so rude and behaves like a king while the wife seems to be more humble and nice. They got married at 18 or 19 I guess, ended up having like 13 or 14 kids and the youngest is still in babysitting, while the oldest one has already married and has his own kid.
Both of them work so hard at work and they really have strange regulations.
Whenever the king comes to HK, he doesn't drink water offered by anyone. He'd rather ordering his subordinates to buy him coffee from starburbs.
Once I accompanied him to visit our factory and he didn't give want to drink our tea after being thirsty for so long.
I do admire their determinations, but when we're put in a different place, do we have to be so not "flexible"?
I wonder if he's in a desert, would he give up his life for not drinking dirty water of even his own holly water?
Thoughts2009-09-09 09:43
Interesting. He insisted to drink nothing but Starbuck coffee? Maybe, when he's dying of thirst, he would then "risk" his life to drink HK water.
Yeah, most of them are very determined to make a lot of money and have a lot of kids.

My mind has retired long time ago though I'm still physically sitting here everyday
Yes retirement age here is 60, but everyone in our department is on contract terms so it doesn't really matter. If you've got enough money, you can retire tomorrow (not me though).
Thoughts2009-09-08 10:46
That's a line people here use all the time. Even though they're right in front of you, they would say ........... I'm not really here.
Hey, you never know. Maybe, tomorrow, you're going to hit the lotto.

Yeah, we're hearing more and more of people living up to or beyond 100 now.

If legal fees vary according to seniority.... with all due respect, I'm not gonna use Mr 101!
Thoughts2009-09-08 09:38
Well, if he's really good, I believe people would still love to use him no matter what.

People call me workaholic. But, I'm only a "9 to 5" workaholic. Please don't bother me after five. So, I suppose I'm not a real workaholic after all.
Obviously, he has been a workaholic all his life and he enjoys working.
He takes a nap in the afternoon, it could be a long nap. He works 40 hrs a week, so, maybe, he doesn't really go to work everyday, maybe, every other day or so.
bho 2009-09-07 23:10
I don't mind working at the age of over 100 even if I can live to that old. The point is that I must have good health and energy.
I love to be kept busy. So in this situation, I like to do something without pressure such as a volunteer.
Thoughts2009-09-07 23:21
However, it's very very unusual for people to have such a long life. Even if they do, they're not fit for work anymore.
That's true, it's always good to keep busy, keep ourselves occupied.

Thank you for "guiding" me to his "exciting life".
At this point, the only papers I can submit is the resignation papers. No, I won't do that, I did that once in HK before, submitting my resignation to move to this country and everything went down the drain, no pensions, no nothing of any kind. Now, I have to be patient. If they offer me this "肥雞餐" in a year or two, I'll seriously consider it. You know, I'm still too young even to be offered this 肥雞餐.
Too bad that at where I work, they haven't been offering this 肥雞餐 for a long long time.

This reminded me the jewish couple, who always come to Hong Kong to purchase, the husband is too old to stand straight. I guess they'd be at least at their 80s. Still working, amazing. But why work so hard while they've got so much $$$?
They had to take their own food and eat in special restaurants, for 1 week every time. Working so hard and enjoying so little, the jewish people.

Right, he's truly blessed to live this long and still has a healthy body and mind, and can still work as a lawyer and be able to do it well.
I know you're working on retiring early and moving to Turkey. Hope that you're getting closer to that soon.

Not too many people get to live till 101, let alone working till 101.
You're retiring when? 55 or 60. I remember there's an option for you to opt and then later on, they changed it and the normal retirement age at where you work is now 60 for everybody, right?

He's really blessed to have, first, such a long life, second, he actually stays healthy with a sharp mind.
At age 38, with a several year old at home, the ideal is to work part-time, right?
