Remark:
Very balance wine on smell, aroma & texture. Good oak nose. It's smooth may be due to large portion of Merlot.
Started to drink after breathed for 1/2 hours, but the tannic is light even breathed for short. It is optimum after 1 hr.
It's a very well balanced wine. Worth to try once more!
Rated: 90
Additional Note:
Named in honour of the Roman poet Ausonius (who is known to have owned a vineyard in the area) Ausone's cellars are cut into the limestone beneath the vineyards which lie in the heart of St-Emilion. The wines have been rated by experts as the equal of Lafite and Latour.
Sourced from 20-year-old vines directly below the Ausone vineyards, Chateau de Fonbel is made by noted perfectionist Alain Vauthier, Ausone owner and talented winemaker.
Barrel-aged for up to 12 months, Fonbel exudes intense aromas of rich fruit and spiced oak. Juicy, ripe black fruits mingle with raspberry in the mouth and the silky texture is framed by leather and oak. Long, smooth and delicious. Now to 2011.
Mr Vauthier is the owner of Château Fonbel , he is also owner of the most famous winery of St Emilion (with Cheval Blanc); Château Ausone. This is the same team who is responsible for viniculture and wine making in the two wineries.Since 2000 Mr Vauthier uses his know-how to improve the quality of this wine After hand-picked harvests, a harsh selection of the grapes is done to have a result close to perfection.
Better try with Beef Stronganoff, Chargrilled Steaks, Venison
