My first day in London as a tourist -- like most Hong Kongnese, I visited Harrods. It was located right next to the South Kensington station of the tube.

This is the famous Egpytian Hall symbolising the first set of escalators being adopted by department store in Britain. The escalators are relatively short (approximately 20 steps each). In fact the store is so big that there are three sets of escalators connecting three (or four? I am confused too....) exhibition halls.

This is the high tea place on the toppest floor which I didn't dare to go....$_$

Lovely bears riding on lovely jeep!
Harrods' renowned souvenir shop -- lots and lots of teddy bear products. I decided not to make any purchase until I visited all places in order to get the best sourvenirs for my friends =)

As I decided to leave Harrods for the day, I found that all security guards looked very tense and they questioned everyone entering the store the purpose of and number of people entering. Then as I stepped outside I found the road was filled with police and no cars and passerbys were allowed to walk pass the main road! I overheard a cop saying that a suspicious bag was found outside of one of the entrances. Luckily it turned out to be a false alarm (or else I might not be writing this blog after all) but it was a rather interesting and exciting event to experience. I then came to realise why you can hear public announements everywhere in Harrods saying that should people find unattended bags, they should immediately report to the police -- although this may sound a little crazy, the fear of terrorist attacks is obviously well-sitting on the mind of the national security department and the general public.
