Venice (Santa Maria della Salute)

在畫室畫完另一幅同樣名字的畫後,突然在腦袋中浮現一些畫面; 剛好身邊有塊未用過的畫布, 便立即用畫刀把腦海中的影像快速地記下: 底色, 藍、紅、橙; 用刀把教堂的線給勾出來 (本來是用筆的, 但畫不出想像中的效果), 光位用教堂的顏色, 暗位用黑色; 再用刀加上其它細緻的紋。整幅畫用了約15-20分鐘完成。

後來靜下來時研究自己為何這樣畫, 原來我將底色(天色)廣大, 再加上勾線把教堂寫意地勾出; 保留底色在教堂中的原因, 可能是因為在我印象中見過日落的色彩打在教堂上, 使其融合在天色之中。

整幅畫是憑直覺去畫, 作畫時沒思考過為什麼這樣畫, 也沒嘗試去思考。很難得掌握到這次一霎那間的感覺, 又在未忘記前完成, 出來的效果又和腦海中浮現的影像十分接近, 幸運, 幸運。

An image of the church flashed through my head after the completion of another piece of work with the same title. I picked up the palette knife and record the image in my memory: sky with vivid blue, red and orange colours; ochre highlights on bright surface of church, dark on the shadows. The painting was done in around 15-20 minutes.

I analyzed this piece of work afterwards, and found out that I magnified the colour of sky and blended it into the church surface; highlights were added to outline the church. I may have seen such a scene when I was in Venice at sunset, when the colour of the church unified with the twilight.

The painting was completed in a half conscious state, without really knowing what and why I had been painting in this way. It was fortunate that I captured the instant impression that flashed through my mind into the canvas this time.
