1st Farm I stayed in Warkwork, North Island (22-29 Jan 2008)
This is a Permaculture & 75 % seasonal organic Farm, size is 7 ha. They are developed by using permaculture principles. People living in this farm is self sufficiency in food and energy. That is why we are using toilet compost. Do you know what do i mean. It means using human pi pi & poo poo to make a compost for watering the gardening.
What i have done and tried in this farm:
knowing about what is the meaning and design of permaculure, it is really a philosophy and approach to land use with the intergration of animals, soils, nature material and human needs. I have been trying to digging out a compost, taking the dog to walk, weeding and watering the garden, builing a road, peeling the garlic, making a garlic butter, catching a wild duck to kill and cook.
This experience is not really good cos the toilet compost made me feel so uncomfortable and terrible, and want to leave at the first begining, however, with the strong faith that there must have something good to learn, good to experience, then i decide to stay for a week. Within a week stay in this a bit isolated farm, i truely feel that as a human, we need to care of the earth that God give us. There is inttrinsic worth of every living things in the Earth. Everything in nature seems is something of value in itself. I AM THE NATURE.

How nice the colour of this toilet! Look careful ! Imagine what are the things inside this box? This is a COMPOST Toilet. I cant believe that such civilization country there is still a compost toilet.

One of the hardest job I tried to do is to weed and then to carry stone and to build the road.

The garlic is dry enough for us to clean and ready to be sold. So dealing with this garlic is our main duty too.

Everyday, we have two sessions or sometimes three sessions of time to take the dog for walk. I enjoy it very much cos we can walk to the see side and have a fresh breathe.

We have to take turn to cook for the whole family and wwoofer, I choose to cook chinese fire rice. See how colourful it is, acutally there is no meat they all vege. However, i choose different colour to cook for this fire rice and wish they love it. YES, they love it very much.
