I am so happy to see this VR2UIX blog's hit rate is approaching 20,000 by this week. Thank you so much indeed for most of your support.
The VR2UIX Blog was found back in June 28, 2006. Before this blog, I have already started a Yahoo Group called "Hong Kong Yaesu FT-897D Club,
http://hk.groups.yahoo.com/group/hk_ft897d_club/" in 2005 which did have few feedbacks from the local HAM and internet users. Due to this issue I switched to start this blog to share my HAM life experience towards this new red hot trend.
I began my 2-way radio communication life by "Family Radio System" FRS409 with the little Motorola 6200C which operates on 409MHz band with 0.5w ERP. I was surprised by this machines for the distance and quality QSO. I even went to the top of mountains with homebrew antennas for better and longer communication. Many friends have been met on air and also by eye-balls too.
By a chance I joined the HF DXing function in 2004, another big turning point happened to me at that time. I was amazed and deeply fallen in love with it, so, I attended a training course organised by a local radio club (
actually I did not learn much from there because the tutor was only taking advantage from us in terms of money rather then delivering the knowledge) but I was not very happy there. Fortunately, since my education background did support me by self-study and therefore I obtained my HAM license easily and confidently in 2005 as VR2UIX.
I will keep on updating this blog with my HAM knowledge, experience and interests. Last but not least, thanks for your most valuable support again.
