There is a little story I would like to tell and share with you.
Amateur Radio, an old technology, helps again when typhoon was striking straight at Hong Kong!
Last Friday, shortly after HKO had announced that signal No 8 would soon be hoisted, the phone system were congested with people trying to pass this message on. It's even harder to get connected with a mobile phone. But unfortunately I had to rush to Queen Mary Hospital, a hospital that I've never been to before.
Calling for help with my mobile phone was out of question. At the right moment that I was so helpless and desperate, I remembered my set of amateur radio transceiver, that I had earlier brought out with.
With a brief CQ call on VR2HKA, I got immediate reply of direction. 2 warmhearted HAM replied me and instructed me to the right mean of public transport. (Taxi was out of option again, there was NO taxi avaliable) Without the two warmhearted HAM, VR2HKA and this amateur radio, I couldn't get to QM on that day under typhoon signal No. 8.
Thank you all!
