the message was short, how to say. " i love you."
though it spanned for 17 years before such simple words can be said.
writtern and directed by Ishikawa Hiroshi.
it does not have a quick pace, nor does it have a lot of dialogues, and in a way, for viewers other than Japanese, it might be difficult to comprehend why it was so hard to say "i love you", considering, one sees teenagers on the streets of Hong Kong, don't even have a clue as to what life is all about, calling each other intimate names, making promises that were beyond their comprehension, saying "i love you" is like swallowing the french fries down your throat, a mindless, involuntary action.
there were parts i liked it, and parts i didn't. but that's the way how the director saw it.
i remember years ago during my life as an university student, wrote a play with a similar theme, "The Words that were Waited...", yes, though the story was completely different (with mine spanning 100 years! ) the message was the same, the courage to say " i love you."
