南生圍

南生園以前是著名的攝影勝地，

塘邊種滿了尤加利樹，卽桉樹。

尤加利樹修長高佻，姿態很美，

像玉樹臨風的美男子臨水照影，

景緻秀美。

近年

大地產商買下美麗的魚塘，

漁夫棄塘而去，

塘水枯涸，雜草叢生；

美麗的桉樹依然迄立，

但也有些不堪野火虫害騷擾，

奄奄一息，淒愴倒下，

好荒凉。

Nam San Wai,

near Yuen Long, was once a beautiful area,

with fish ponds, wetlands and handsome Eucalyptus trees.

Now ponds are abandoned and most of them have dried up;

wild grasses grow everywhere.

With nobody to take care of and fires are not uncommon,

the area has become a deserted wilderness,

pretty no more.

It is interesting that

painters still frequent this area

and lovers even go there to take wedding pictures.

Some people say that

the best way to make the countryside beautiful is to cultivate it,

 grow crops, vegetables or rear fish.

It is a pity that our fields and ponds are all abandoned

and the once beautiful countrysides of Hong Kong

have become so ugly.
